Indian Head Massage

Indian Head Massage

Indian Head Massage is a relaxing and invigorating therapy.  It has many benefits that include the relief of built up tension that can often result in headaches, migraines, neck and back pain.

Practiced in India for over a thousand years, Indian Head Massage was originally restricted to the head and hair. However, now, because of its benefits it includes the neck, upper back, shoulders and upper arms, relieving tension in the muscles.

Lasting around 25-45 minutes, Indian Head Massage is carried out with the client in a seated position.  It may or may not involve the use of oils – depending on the client’s needs.

During the treatment the therapist uses a range of different massage movements and rhythms to stimulate the head, neck, upper back, shoulders and upper arms.  In addition, the therapist will gently massage and stimulate pressure points on the face.

The benefits of an Indian Head Massage is not just physical; it also works on an emotional level and aids relaxation; helping to calm the mind and body and relieve stress.

An Indian Head Massage may prove beneficial by:

  • relieving built up muscular tension that can often result in headaches, migraines
  • improving blood circulation
  • aiding a general feeling of relaxation, calmness and well-being
  • improving muscle tone
