Seated Acupressure Massage

Seated Acupressure Massage is based on the principles of Anma (Japanese for ‘press and rub’), a traditional Japanese massage.

The therapy works on over 90 specific acupressure points on the head, neck, shoulders, arms, hands, spine and lower back; leaving you feeling relaxed and calm, yet energised and alert.

Carried out with client fully clothed and sitting on a specifically designed chair Seated Acupressure relieves muscle tension in the upper body by concentrating on the areas most affected by prolonged and repetitive work.

The therapist, using seated acupressure massage and a specific sequence of movements (called a kata) uses his or her hands to stimulate the energy points which can be found all along the meridians, or energy lines, of the body.  This sequence is designed to improve the flow of energy and balance and strengthen the body’s circulatory, muscular and nervous systems.

Seated Acupressure Massage is beneficial for:

  • stress related muscular tension
  • skeletal problems
  • backache
  • anxiety
  • repetitive strain injury
  • asthma and breathing difficulty
  • sinus problems
  • eye strain
  • headaches/migraines
  • insomnia
  • chronic fatigue syndrome
  • menstrual tension
  • relaxing and calming of the nervous system
  • decreasing blood pressure and pulse
  • dispersal of toxins
  • release of stagnant energy
  • improved circulation of the lymphatic system
  • strengthening the immune system
  • improved alertness and concentration
  • anxiety and depression

While many clients choose to visit a therapist for a massage, some organisations arrange for the therapist to go on-site with their massage chair so that employees can benefit from the therapy while they are at work.
